The Atwood v. Cohen project - “Sex.War.Love.Truth.” (working title) is an original series based on the poetry of Margaret Atwood and the writings of Leonard Cohen. It is a 6 x 50’ serialized drama with comic elements, best suited to streaming.
Log Line:
A womanizing soldier and an acerbic war correspondent struggle to overcome the scars of battle only to face deeper wounds in the war of love. It’s “When Harry Met Sally”, but with assault rifles.
The Story:
Sex.War.Love.Truth. chronicles the embattled relationships between journalist Annie Blake and soldier Michael Layton, along with their best friends Sara Breaveman and Daniel Krantz.
The story is a vibrant, topical and engaging take on relationships. It is When Harry Met Sally, but set in a post-modern, post-truth #metoo world, where a romantic moment might turn on the question of whether “it’s bullet holes we want to see in their skin, scars, and the chance to touch them”.
Sexual politics and the explosive relationship between Annie and Michael lie at the core of the narrative. Using the poetic voices of Atwood and Cohen makes the dialogue between these two characters gripping, provocative and often incendiary.
